Barbara Maushard was named a Vice President, News, at Hearst Television, Inc., formerly Hearst-Argyle Television, Inc., in 2008, serving as part of the team supervising the news management of the group.
She has worked at four Hearst-Argyle stations since 1997, beginning as Executive Producer at KMBC-TV, Kansas City, where she was part of the team that won a Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) award for breaking news coverage, and traveled to Cuba to co-produce special coverage of the Pope's visit there.
She has served as News Director at three Hearst-Argyle stations -- KHBS/KHOG (Fort Smith/Fayetteville), WISN (Milwaukee), and, most recently, WESH (Orlando). Under her news stewardship, WISN-TV launched seven and a half hours of local news programming and was honored with both a Peabody and national Edward R. Murrow, among other awards. She began career at WHOI in her hometown of Peoria, Illinois, later working at WCMH, Columbus and WMAR, Baltimore.
She has served as vice-chair of the ABC News Directors Advisory Board and is a member of the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA).
Maushard graduated with a degree in Broadcast Journalism from Bradley University in Peoria.
